We pride ourselves on offering top-quality feed and supplementation  

and can customise a feeding schedule and spelling strategy for your horse under the guidance of our equine nutritionist and feed partner. 

Rest assured that your beloved broodmare will receive the very best care here at Henstep Thoroughbreds. With a skilled and passionate team of staff, your mare will receive high quality care throughout her stay, be it seasonal or should she reside here long-term. 

We offer foaling down of seasonal and resident mares. Our team of experienced foaling and night-watch staff, along with our on-call equine veterinarians, ensure normal progression of the foaling progress. Broodmares are closely monitored with regular checks (day + night) and each are fitted with a foaling alarm. Mares foal down in our safe paddocks, with fresh pasture underfoot. Following foaling, we ensure IgG testing and any required insurance assessments are performed by our veterinarian. Mares are also monitored closely and provided with any necessary aftercare (such as flushes and treatments). 

Following foaling, the mares and foals are turned out into a small paddock until they are nine days old and are then introduced to a large paddock with a small group of other mares and foals. 

Henstep Thoroughbreds offers sales preparations for weanlings, yearlings, broodmares, and ready-to-run horses. We attend the major Australian sales, with drafts that have been professionally prepared by our dedicated and experienced team.  

Each horse in our drafts has a tailored preparation program, inclusive of a customised feeding and exercise regime with weekly re-assessments.
